FORCED LABOUR SOCIETY

As a result of the ethnographic research made between 1948 and 1986 from prison guard Danzig Baldaev, more than 3000 draws of prisoners’ tattoos were compiled in his personal records.

Forced Labour society is a set of 25 embroidered black silks who honour the work of Baldaev’s archives. With silk as skin and thread as ink, this sets of flags reflects imaginary memories and thoughts of freedom in the minds of the recluts.
